I am originally from Hawaii. I moved to Texas with my dad when I was 10. After graduating high school I moved around some before returning to Texas to finish pharmacy school. I am now a pharmacist at H-E-B.
How did you get interested in Crossfit?
I was looking for something to help me get into shape. I had been swimming but was wanting something more diverse than swimming offered. A store director at the H-E-B I work at overheard Michele and myself talking about wanting to try it out and told us that he used to do and it was definitely something worth checking out. That same week we came in to try it out and we have been coming ever since.
When your motivation is down, how do find the drive to get up and come in?
I always remind myself how good I’ll feel after a workout. It also helps to have friends who keep you accountable. If you tell someone you’ll be at the gym the next day it’s easier to make yourself go in.
What is your least favorite movement?
BURPEES! Burpees are horrible and I always groan when I see them in a workout.
What is your next goal that Crossfit Cataclysm can help you reach?
I would like to become more adept in gymnastics moves like handstand push-ups, toes to bar, and kipping pull-ups. I would eventually like to get good enough to be able to learn other moves like muscle ups and handstand walks.
What would you say to someone that has never tried Crossfit and is looking to get started? Tips, advice?
Don’t over think it. If you want to try out Crossfit, just do it.
