Background: I was born and raised in Garland, TX. During school I played basketball, mainly just because I was tall. In college and law school I played intramural sports and started training to run 1/2 marathons. I have since ran a handful of 1/2 marathons, 1 full marathon, biked from San Antonio to Austin and participated in a couple triathlons.
How did you get interested in Crossfit?
Interested in Crossfit: during law school I started weight lifting with a trainer. When my husband and I moved to Alaska I trained with a coach that implemented some of the Crossfit movements. When we moved back to Texas I started working out at Fieldhouse Gym and got nagged by Josh to try Crossfit out. I resisted, but would do workouts with them when Josh would invite me. I eventually was tired of programming for myself, so decided I would try out Crossfit for a month. I have been apart of it ever since.
When your motivation is down, how do find the drive to get up and come in?
Motivation: working out is my only vice. It is how I decompress from the day. That is all the motivation I need.
What is your least favorite movement?
Least favorite: anything that I have to move my body fast in any direction...running, burpees, thrusters...
What is your next goal that Crossfit Cataclysm can help you reach?
Goal: more proficient toes to bars and pull ups, chest to bars, overall increase in strength.
What would you say to someone that has never tried Crossfit and is looking to get started? Tips, advice?
Getting started: just start and commit to it. The hardest part is showing up. Everything is scalable. And everyone there has been in your exact spot at one point in their life. So if you walk in the gym and see someone doing crazy heavy weight or muscle ups just remember they started where you are.
